Manaslu & Tsum Heli-Trekking
Manaslu was only opened to trekkers in the 1990s, and still sees relatively little traffic. Most treks here require three weeks of trekking and a month door-to-door. By using a helicopter exit, we reduce door-to-door time to just over two weeks.
The chopper ride back to Kathmandu takes you over the imposing Rupina La, a 15,450’ pass with dramatic close-up views of several peaks in the Manaslu massif. The trekking is challenging, nights are spent in tents, but the mountain views are superb and the finale unforgettable.

This itinerary is highly customizable. This valley offers a variety of places to detour to remote villages, rarely traveled paths and scenic lookouts, many of which can be used as pick up points for the helicopter too. This area allows you to take your time getting out into the mountains and leaving your exit to a helicopter means that treks once requiring 3 weeks can be done is less than half that time!
Jane and Elizabeth are ATC alums that have been a joy to work with. They reached out to us in search of another trek in Nepal and were looking for access to Buddhist culture, village life, great trekking and strong views - they knew Tsum was right for them! Prepped, ready to go and excited, they were off on their adventure, but when a small incident left one of them with discomfort walking - the entire itinerary was up in the air. Thankfully, our staff was able to not only accommodate their new limitations but help them to still have a wonderful trek through this remote valley.
